The hunger games written by Suzanne Collins is a novel that unfolds in Panem, an apocalyptic world (a fictional world of where the Hunger Games is hosted). The story is centered on a 16 year old girl called, Katniss Everdeen and her struggles for survival in dystopia. The story begins on the day of reaping at district 12. A day that each district is required to offer two tributes, a boy or a girl aged 12 to 18 years to participate in the games. This was going to be the 74th annual hunger games.

In a twist, Prim Katniss’ 12 year old sister is selected to participate in the 74th hunger games. Having lost their farther at a young age, she isnt going to let her mother lose her too as she swore to protect them. Katniss decides to volunteer as a tribute to take her sisters place, and together with the bakers son, Peeta Mellark they represent district 12. I believe that at this point in the novel that Katniss is feeling overwhelmed and frightened as therfore participating in the Hunger Games where one individual from one district will remain butt also having the thought of who’s to look after her family and support them.

“may the odds ever be in your favor” i believe this quote represents that to survive in the Hunger Games its not just based through the ability to be able to strike a sword or shoot a bow, but to make the audience want you to win by putting on a show and to show the crowd your ambition towards the Hunger games. “I dont know how else to put this: make sure they remember you”- Haymitch Abernathy (Katniss and Peeta’s mentor) i believe that this quote also represents performing at your best outside of combat for benefits to come such as sponsors.

At the end of the novel i believe that Katniss has found out a lot more about herself before coming into the games. She found a love for Peeta, she found that she can make friends, and she found that she can inspire many to step up and make the decisions she made during the reaping and through out the games. But now being known for surviving the hunger games i believe that she has a bigger role towards the following games. I believe ive had many times that ive been able to relate to her situation where ive had to step up to someones position where ive had to perform at a similar level to them, having that feeling if your going to succeed up to everyone’s standards. Also having a relation through the sicknesses that have came to me throughout my life having to fight to get back on track and to show that i am capable of succeeding in life with having that pressure on my back. I also believe it relates in being a senior at school, where the younger students look up to you with having more knowledge from the previous year. I believe this Movie relates to many individuals everyday life actions.
